I work on BD for Tally (the governance platform you are on right now) and contribute to DAOs across the ecosystem!

Please share your stance on overall goals for the DAO:

I will prioritise decentralisation, sustainable growth, and community ecosystem development.

Please share your stance on issues that were raised previously, in other communities, as described below:

Sample Voting Issue 1:

Issue Overview

  • A proposal to add USDC as an additional collateral available to the HAI DAO community has been brought before the DAO.
  • This proposal has passed the temperature check “informal proposal” stage and has been submitted onchain for a DAO vote.
  • This collateral and all collaterals to be added to the HAI protocol must satisfy certain requirements of decentralization and meet certain thresholds of censorship resistance as defined by the HAI DAO UNA Charter.

I would vote FOR. USDC's integration into the HAI protocol would significantly boost the protocol's liquidity, drawing in a substantial user base that favours USDC for its stability and reliability. This addition could serve as a critical bridge, connecting HAI with a broader segment of the DeFi community and facilitating more seamless transactions within the ecosystem.

Amendments: I would propose an amendment to lower debt limit for USDC collateral within the HAI protocol. By implementing a comparatively lower debt ceiling for USDC, we can ensure that while the protocol benefits from the liquidity and user base that USDC brings, it does so without overly relying on a centralized asset. This approach not only mitigates the risks associated with centralization but also encourages users to consider transitioning to other, more decentralized collateral types over time.

While decentralization remains a cornerstone of the HAI DAO's philosophy, achieving the organization's objectives also requires some degree of flexibility to integration with centralized financial instruments like USDC.

Sample Voting Issue 2:

Issue Overview: One of the largest lending platforms issues a stablecoin that is backed by its own governance token. The lending platform wants to run a large incentives campaign for HAI, and for HAI to list its stablecoin as collateral. Adding this stable as an additional collateral would provide an immediate and substantial liquidity boost to the protocol, but some members of the DAO have raised concerns over the sustainability and ethics of accepting the collateral.

I would vote AGAINST in its current form. My primary concern stems from the sustainability and ethical implications of accepting a stablecoin that is backed by its own governance token as collateral. The dependence on the lending platform's governance token for backing introduces a significant risk of volatility and potential conflict of interest, undermining the core values of decentralization and security inherent to HAI.

While promising immediate liquidity boosts, the proposal poses long-term sustainability questions. Accepting a stablecoin backed by a governance token could lead to centralization risks, where the lending platform gains disproportionate influence over HAI. This influence could skew decision-making processes, potentially compromising the decentralized ethos of HAI. Moreover, the ethical considerations regarding the transparency and stability of the stablecoin's backing need a thorough examination to ensure alignment with HAI.

Amendments to the Proposal: To address these concerns, I propose the following amendments before reconsidering the proposal:

  1. Independent Audit: Require an independent audit of the stablecoin, focusing on its backing, sustainability, and potential risks to ensure transparency and stability.
  2. Liquidity and Collateral Management Framework: Develop a comprehensive framework for liquidity management and collateral acceptance criteria. This framework should include stress testing for extreme market conditions to ensure the platform's resilience.
  3. Decentralization Safeguards: Implement safeguards to prevent centralization, such as capping the influence any single entity or token can exert over HAI's decision-making processes.

Drawing from years of experience working within DAOs, I've witnessed firsthand the innovative and efficient ways decentralized organizations can operate without sacrificing their foundational principles. Decentralization, when strategically implemented, can foster environments that are not only efficient but also more resilient and adaptable to change. Centralization often breeds corruption and creates points of failure that can jeopardize the integrity and objectives of an organization like HAI.
